I'll pay for a room for you! [ Like hell is she going to let a friend be homeless! ] And-- ah, ah-- [ She raises a finger, as if to stop him in whatever protest he hasn't yet given. ] I have coin to spare. No excuses!
[The fellow teen blinks wide in disbelief at Rem's generosity in this situation and was about to protest when she quickly stopped him in his tracks. Rubbing the back of his neck again as he chuckles lightly under his breathe, Denji simply nods in agreement albeit reluctantly at first.]
Guess you're not giving me an option to say no, huh?
[A genuine smile growing wider over his lips as a heartwarming feelings wells up in the pit of his stomach. She really was the most kindhearted girl who actually was worried about his well being even if he did still harbor feelings towards Makima for taking him in out of the cold and giving him a real chance at life. She wasn't intimidating like her that was for sure, Denji always feeling comfortable when in Rem's presence.]
[No one had willingly offered to put a roof over his head at least not for free, sure Makima put him up with Aki after teaming up with Public Safety but that had its fair share of rules and stipulations that were quite literally lethal if he did not comply. She made it perfectly clear she had no use for dogs who disobeyed orders and would be put down swiftly without remorse if he failed her. Thankfully up until he was plucked from his home world and brought here to Escordvi's shores that had not happened...yet.
An awestruck look is stricken over his face as a hint of red flushes washed over his cheeks, nodding eagerly in response to her sympathetic act of charity. Rem was far too nice to him but someday soon Denji would have to repay her multiple acts of thoughtfulness and would make damn sure if she ever needed for anything the fellow teenager would see to it.]
Well...You are probably one of my closest friends here but you'd be the first to give me a real place to call home without holding a leash around my neck like a tamed dog.
Really? Huh- Well I never had any friends other than Pochita growing up so I guess I wouldn't know what makes someone a good one or bad then.
[Denji was just happy to have people who wanted to be around him as far as he was concerned and wasn't really thinking about the negative prospects that may have came with the stipulations of his 'friendship' with Makima upon first joining Public Safety. Either way it was better than the life he was leading up until that point being nothing but a shell of a human being who was barely scrapping by everyday to survive, living perpetually off an empty stomach and unlikely dreams. Nowadays he at least was able to feed himself and had a roof over his head with some genuine kinship with Power at his side.
Looking up towards the sky he thought about all of the people he'd seen come and go so quickly in his brief time within Tokyo Special Division 4. Fushi, Himeno, Hirokazu and most of all Aki. A solemn sigh escaping his parted lips before he finally looks back to Rem with a half hearted smile and shrugging his shoulders.]
Even still...It is better than the life I led before joining up with Public Safety. At least I can eat a good meal nowadays.
[He also got to see Makima everyday but he wouldn't voice that to her. Although he didn't know her ulterior motives for being so 'kind' to him but that was neither here nor there.]

What-- ]
Denji.... [ A concerning picture is starting to form in her head about him the most he talks about his past. ]
Friends don't hold things above each other. Much less treat each other like 'dogs on a leash'.
