★ Appearance/Psionic/Soul Info ★

HEIGHT: 5'3"
VISUAL: Rem is a young woman with light brown hair and red eyes. Her lithe appearance often makes her look physically weaker than she seems. Towards end-canon, she appears more sickly and pale. CGI art. Nomura concept art.
HAIR: Light brown.
EYES: Red.
FEATURES: When in l'cie form, an Orience l'cie brand appears to hover over her left shoulder, but is not actually a 'tattoo'.

DRESS: Default uniform.
VOICE: English. Japanese. Occasionally speaks with a quirk, often repeating the subject and verb after a sentence. (E.g. Instead of "the sky is blue" she says, "The sky is blue, it is.")
OLFACTORY:

Higanbana, carnations. Flowers one would bring to a cemetery. Faintly: fresh gravesoil, gunpowder, iron, blood. Things one would encounter in battle.

AURA:

Magical. Peaceful, soothing. Touched by death. Life is strained, fading. ~Special~ in the way that the "Mother-Creator" of her world cursed her soul to make her weaker, but also happens to bear the gentle smile of the other goddess of death (according to Hajime Tabata).

SOUL/PSIONIC:

Rem's soul is one of the 16 "Loci" or "thrones" as made by the Mother-Creator. Hers is known as the "Loci of Love", one of the core aspects of humanity according to the in-universe deities. 12 of these Loci were kept by the Mother-creator, while the Loci of Love, Fear, Age, and Suffering were cast out. All Loci have repeated the canon universe's cycle exactly 600,104,972 times. In a previous "cycle" in her universe, she was the Judge who deemed humanity inadequate and brought about the end of the world, thus forcing it to begin again. In the current cycle, a god purposefully made her soul weak. This, in turn, made her physical constitution weak to bring about an early death. Hence Cough of DoomTM. Does she remember the previous cycles? Canonically, only via moments of deja-vu. According to the in-universe god, while even a person might not literally remember, the "the soul remembers", and it might take some triggering/awakening to have her recall details.

Those able to read souls can find out a few things, depending on how deep they look and their power level, plus whatever you think is appropriate:
++ They can find hers ancient, carrying a burden of all hundreds of millions of cycles she experienced beforehand.
++ The most prominent burden involves her condemning humanity and the world. So they might find something rather twisted prominent in her soul.
++ They can be able to detect that she is heavily tied to the concept of love.
++ They will be able to detect that she is loosely tied to death, or some divine power associated with death.
++ They can detect that hers is cursed by divine power to shackle her soul.
++ Additionally, those able to sense souls will see that not only hers, but numerous others she has harvested. See "phantoma" drop-down menu for total count.

HEALTH:

Generally good, considering Folkmore-mechanics have brought her back to life. But, she suffers from illness/cough which grips her at random times but especially during bought of stress. She appears more sickly and pale when it flares, and her voice becomes hoarse. In canon, it brought her to the point of being chair-ridden. Rem is under the impression that she is ill due to an experimental plague brought by a mutant malboro that was set upon her village by the Milites Empire. In reality, she suffered this progressive illness due to a shackle/curse on her being that was placed on her by the Mother-Creator.

★ Background ★

ORIGINS: An unnamed border-town between Rubrum and Milites, in the world of Orience.
FAMILY: Deceased.
OCCUPATION: Was an "Agito" cadet in Akademia, the capital of Rubrum, and part of Class 0. In short, a child soldier.
IN-DEPTH: Wiki-profile here. App here.
BLURB:

Born into a world in which all are blessed to forget the dead, Rem grew up in a border-town between Rubrum and Milites that was often not seen as important enough to protect by the former's military. Eventually, the territory was attacked by a mutant malboros as a monster-plague experiment by Milites. The experiment was deemed too dangerous, and Milites ordered the hamlet to be destroyed so as to prevent Rubrum from gaining intel on their bio-warfare attempts. Her village was obliterated, and the territory was conquered by Milites. Fortunately, she escaped with her childhood friend, Machina, only to be later separated from him due to war. Like so many other children in her world, she grew up as an orphan and jumped between foster families. Vowing to become stronger, to find Machina once again, and to protect those she loves, she studied and trained hard enough so she could be enrolled as an Agito Cadet in Akademia, Rumbrum's premier military school. There, she studied and trained, reunited with Machina, and eventually became chosen to enroll Class 0, a class reserved for Rubrum's most elite cadets.

Given that FFT:0 is a "dead canon", I have a dedicated Inferances & Headcanon page that I made to try to sort out some of the mysteries involving her and her canon.

★ Personality ★

ATTITUDE: Friendly, conversational, well-adjusted, kind, compassionate, self-sacrificial. Demure, but not exactly shy. A terrible liar, and lies often (about her health). One wouldn't suspect that she's a child of war. She does what she needs to survive; mostly, that means becoming stronger magic-wise.
QUIRKS: Has a verbal tic in which she repeats the subject and verb after a sentence (i.e. instead of "the sky is blue", she says "the sky is blue, it is").
LIKES: Peacetime, jokes, teasing others, music, reading, friendly people, helping others, volunteering, training to become stronger so she can protect her friends.
DISLIKES: War. In a previous cycle in her world, she had such a strong desire for peace that she became the Judge and ended the world. Because, you know. Ending the world = no fighting = peacetime. ~Logic~ Rem regards battles like this. Finish the enemy off quickly so that there can be peace.
HOBBIES: Reading, exploring nature, hanging with friends, studying magic to become stronger so she can protect her friends...
IN-DEPTH: See app.
BLURB:

Tender, soft-spoken, attentive, nurturing, helpful, and excessively patient-- even to those who are short, upset, or hostile with her. When she converses with someone, she gives them their full attention. Not openly confrontational. Tends to obey orders given by higher-ups. A healthy respect and fear for authority and deities. Empathetic towards those who died (note that in her world, all are "blessed" to forget the dead).

All in all, Rem is a young, friendly woman who grew up in a world in which all as “blessed” to forget the dead. She’s a child soldier, sees nothing wrong with this, and actively reaps souls (in her canon, called “phantoma”) when finished with enemies along the battlefield. She’s a ride-or-die kinda gal, literally, and she can and will kill others (or sacrifice herself) because she’ll give up anything to protect those she loves.

That being said, despite all the war she’s endured, she’s actually one of the more well-adjusted characters in her world! And that’s including how many times she’s lived and died in previous cycles in her world (which she can’t remember, but her soul somehow does— a good thing too considering last cycle she deemed humanity sucks and ended the world). SO YEAH ANYWAYS. She’s caring and puts others first, is actively conversational, and loves a good pun and to tease others. Unfortunately suffers from an incurable illness with a terrible cough. Don’t worry, she’s Fine. It’s fine. Nothing suspicious there.

★ Abilities ★

WEAPONS: Rem uses two twin daggers to fight, which she manifests from hammerspace by way of magic.
SKILLS:

⯌ Physical Combat.
Grew up as a child soldier, uses twin daggers (stored in hammerspace). Acrobatic, resilient, athletic. Quietly vicious, but merciful. She doesn’t like killing, but she’s done a lot of it, and she will do more. Rem's gameplay wiki here.

⯌ Magic.
In Type 0, all of the playable characters can wield magic, although their capacity tends to vary depending on the prowess and the amount of MP they have. Rem is known to excel at magic, and her stats put her in the #1 spot in all magic compared to other units. As depicted in scenes and in the manga, she seems to favor fire, lightning, and healing spells.  A full list of the magic can be found here. The "unique" spells on this list (Ultima), are something that I believe she would have been working on at end-canon, but has not had the chance to practice as necessary before she became chair-ridden from her illness. In the manga, Rem is even shown to overcome a magic-negation device by brute-forcing her power. Canonically, Rem can either come in mere contact with a harvested soul or consume it to replenish her magic.

⯌ Killsight.
In canon, "killsight" is an ability in which a party member can observe an enemy and strike a one-hit-kill, despite how large or formidable the enemy is. It should be noted that killsight is different than your regular strike-at-weak-point-or-artery: canon states that this effect is used as the basis for the Death spell that inflicts a killsight status onto an enemy, so that simply any attack at any point may one-hit-kill them.

⯌ Manalchemy.
Rem practices in the art of manalchemy (magic+alchemy), which is the art of transferring magic/energy into different kinds. Canonically, Rem practices this in a way with siphoning magic (i.e. "Siphon Sphere") or the soul (i.e. "Siphon Delta") from an enemy. This subset of transferring soul-power/life essence to use as power is a highly classified type of research in her world. Despite not initially being privy to its formal research, Rem still was able to develop this power on her own. Despite all of Class 0 being able to reap a soul after someone dies, this ability to harvest someone's soul even while they are alive is unique to Rem (even when she is not a l'cie).

⯌ Primus L'cie.
When fully activated in this mode, Rem gains superhuman strength, senses, speed, and both extraordinary physical and magical recovery times. Auto-haste/regen/protect/shell are applied. Her eyes glow red, she is able to fly (with or without the phoenix-type wings), cloak herself and her weapons with fire, and basically withstand a lot of damage. Additional note: Primus l’Cie have been shown in canon to wipe out entire cities with an attack, create giant craters of a continent in their wake, eradicate battalions of soldiers with a single attack, and life-siphon from multiple living people for their summonings. See their world's map's highlighted portions for areas of their globe that a l'cie either caused or survived. (Here are the same areas transposed on earth, for sense of scale.) These destructive abilities are appropriately nerfed.

⯌ Phantoma/Soul-harvesting.
Rem can rip the “phantoma” (e.g. life-essence, soul) from anything that has perished. She can use its soul to supplement or increase her magic, or she carry as many souls as she wants with her for later use. Once she rips the soul from a corpse, the body violently sublimates into a fine, red mist. As a l'cie, Rem can also take the soul out of multiple living people. (Canonically, a primus l'cie is able to siphon the souls of up to "half a nation's population" at once.) See "phantoma" drop-down menu for count number below.

⯌ Eidolon-Summoning. Summoning in Type-0 requires an actual human sacrifice. When she was still human, Rem would summon Eidolons by sacrificing herself for the cause. Extra notes on this:

◉◉◉ Canonically, those of Class Zero who summon Eidolons are brought back by Al-Arecia each time because they're ~special~, but this privilege is not afforded to anyone else, and it's equally not boasted by the class for secrecy (because why tell the rest of the soldiers that have been sacrificing themselves for Eidolons this entire time). The exception to this "must-sacrifice-oneself" rule is that Rem, at her current canon point, is a l'cie. L'cie are able to siphon phantoma/souls from others and still remain alive in order to summon an eidolon.
◉◉◉ A list is here. In addition to these Eidolons in the base game, Eidolons of the Ixion, Ramuh, Leviathan, Ultima, and the Phoenix also appear in the Awakening game. She can summon all of them at her canon-point. Verboten Eidolons, of course, would necessitate the harvesting of others' souls as well.

★ Inventory ★

Cadet's uniform, including her red Class 0 cloak and pendant.
Daggers (see "Abilities"). They're more like short swords, though-- about the length of half her leg. Stores in crystal hammer space
Knowing tags on a silver chain, her own.

★ Phantoma ★

"Souls return to the celestial father, and flesh to the terrestrial mother—so says the law of nature. Some spirits, however, are not so fortunate. Some wander for eternity, searching for a purpose."

This is a list of what she has with her canon world (25% of what she had at canon-point) + what she is gathering in-game. Characters who are able to sense souls may perceive she is carrying all of these. Note that the "white" phantoma category is for humans.
