ongoing & potential projects/investigations
- Tombstone script decoding, when archives open again:
- employee the expertise of Prof Turo to match script upon tombstone (he took a picture of it while it was intact) to other texts found within archive. Goal: primarily to find the author of said script and link it or other works, or barring that, simply linking the script to other works
- If the script is in some sort of code, also work with Prof Turo in decoding it
- look into mentions of other relics
- employee the expertise of Prof Turo to match script upon tombstone (he took a picture of it while it was intact) to other texts found within archive. Goal: primarily to find the author of said script and link it or other works, or barring that, simply linking the script to other works
- work with Dongfang and Xenk
- use the pictures Prof Turo took of the ghost ship to identify the sigils upon it, then cross match them with similar sigils as found either in a) the archives when open again, or b) the sigils marked in historical harbor logs. Rem, Dongfang, and Xenk are dividing their work of the three major ports (Eltrut, Nogard, Elah,) to look over logs dated within a certain time frame that’s associated with the ghost ship’s older design. The ship they’re looking for fits a certain style and size, and would have no harbormaster log of it having returned to port. The hope to see if it has a charter to where it was headed out, why (ie was it an expedition?), and if the tombstone was something assigned to the ship to be carried away from port, or if the ship left port only to encounter the cursed artifact at its destination elsewhere, only to never return.
- they will probably need more ppl for this to cover other ports.
- see if the magitek can function like the empire’s magitek in her own world. Ie, something similar to far-field power/charging of devices, even away from the source generator. The “tech” part, the believes, comes from finding the appropriate metal and conduit that links the device to the off-site power source. The “magic” part involves more so coordinating the transfer of long distance energy from giver to recipient node.
- For instance, Dominion magic involves the transfer of magic source to power their airships from a primary source (the Vermillion Crystal); likewise, Empire does the same with their machinery and dreadnaughts (their White crystal). This suggests there is a mechanism of remote energy transfer/charging— multiple, in fact, across the nations— but it’s probably going to involve a lot of thinking on Rem’s part on how to design it. She’ll definitely need to work with others (Kaveh, maybe?)
- it’s like magical Bluetooth, but instead of signal transfer, it’s with power transfer.
- seems to be some sort of lattice or glyph ala dominion-magic gear-motif that allows transfer of power from terminal A to terminal B. For the Empire, seems to be more like material based (ie piece of lesser magicite embedded into machinery that receives signal/power). LOL PUTTING IT THAT WAY both the empire and the Dominion have some variation of magitek, but the former is much lore focused on circuitry

- eventually wants to recreate the altocrystarium, a device that assists in converting souls into new, potent magics. Otherwise, when she consumes a soul, it kinda just recharges MP. So. More power = better able to protect others and herself. Specifically, there is the “reraise” spell, which brings one back to life. Only Dr. Al-Rashia is known to be able to bestow this spell during the canon story. Rem is the only other person who does have a work around, probably what with being loosely tied to Etro, but her version of Reraise only lasts for 10 seconds. Rem wants to be able to cast this as needed for a lasting effect— or better yet, place it onto an item as Dr. Al-Rashia once did for Class 0’s first mission.
- To do this, Rem is searching for something that is capable of housing a lot of power as a base for a project. Since she doesn’t believe she’s capable of constructing a base herself, she wants to find something that already exists in this world that she can modify for her own purposes.
- she believes the base could be literally anything that’s 1. Not frail 2. Able to hold power. For all she knows this could be some artifact (crystal, weapon, heck even a piece of jewelry) that was once used for another purpose. Regardless, if it still has power, it has to be drained of its power so she can imbue it with souls.
- already asked cid and Dongfang separately for help to find something suitable.
- Will she succeed? Who knows. But she will do dumb and desperate things trying to.
