But I don't think the souls they take... go to the Crytal. They're used for the l'cie's power. [ Consumed for the sake of the magic or summoning, as far as she knows.
Saying it aloud makes it sound much worse. Or it sounds like she's trying to say no, it doesn't take all souls, when her explanation is trying to debunk that on a technicality: "The l'cie take souls when needed, not the Crystal, but the l'cie's wills are tethered to the Crystal".
